While the World Sleeps – Mitchell David Ring (The Light is On)

There’s this sensation of freefall all the time

even when on long walks while the world sleeps

the sky seems just to be letting go

and the fall is endless down into solitude

Maybe on the way down my eyes will open

and just when it gets too dark to see

I’ll notice the way the shadows move

somehow alive, somehow reaching out to me

and only when the darkness has blinded me

will I realize the sound of breathing here

like the world’s last sigh

and wonder what else has fallen into shadow

Has a book ever brought you to tears?

I am a Social Worker by day and an artist/writer by night. I use the written word in an attempt to make sense of the secret worlds and dysfunctional dynamics that lurk beneath the facades of our daily interactions. I am not sure how my writing styles are characterized, nor am I overly concerned about it. I am immensely enthusiastic about music and often connect better with songs than I do people. I also have an intense appreciation for quality wines and whiskies, frequently consuming them in excess. I like things that smell good and struggle to manage the symptoms of a life-long relationship with depression. So, why "grumpygorman"? Spend some time here and find out...
